Commodore Corner May, 2012
I think we can finally feel warmer weather in the air. It is now May and all of us are getting anxious to get our boats in the water. I am sure everyone is well under way with their boat cleaning and repairs for the 2012 sailing season. We can almost anticipate the sailing now!
Our first club sail will be on the weekend of May 19 - 20 and the cruise captain is Kyle Donnelly. It is time to make plans for this weekend sail in Lake Geneva. Please go out on the NWSA website and sign up as soon as possible so Kyle will be able to plan our first sail. Also, if you will be spending the entire weekend, you will need to make reservations for accommodations.
Marc Holdwick has an exciting 2012 sailing season planned for us. Be on the watch out for the exciting list of sails at the NWSA club meeting on May 21, 2012 and in the new membership directory. We are focusing on “Cruise Captain Mentoring” again this year. Our seasoned cruise captains are looking to teach others how to assist with this area of our club. It isn’t a lot of work and it allows members to meet others in the club and to be able to decide a few of the details needed for the individual sails. Try it out. Talk it up at our May meeting with the current cruise captains and others that have taken on this role in the past. We would like to sign up a person to be the “assistant cruise captain” for each of our sails this year. Please talk with Marc, Larry or the current cruise captains, if you are interested.
In October we have our photo contest. Remember to bring your camera to the sails and get some of those wonderful photos to enter into the contest.
The NWSA club has a Boat U.S. cooperating groups agreement. This agreement allows the members of NWSA to receive half-price Boat U.S. memberships and other specials. Please stop by at the May meeting to get our group number to receive your discount.
Fair Winds,
