Welcome to the 2012 NWSA sailing season!
We have many things planned during the 2012 sailing season to delight the small boat owners, larger boat owners and those that just like to sail.
In January NWSA will participate in the Strictly Sail show at Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois. As the winter weather takes it course we are all anxious to start sailing again. During March we will have our first club event, the “I Wish I Were Sailing” party. This club event is well attended because all of us sailors are itching to get back on the water with our boats. It is a fun time to reacquaint with old friends, make new friends and have a good time with other sailors in the club.
Each year the club schedules multiple sails on most weekends, from May through October, to accommodate the club members with trailer boats and those that are at home in one of the many harbors along the Illinois and Wisconsin lake fronts. Sailing on Lake Michigan can be fun and challenging as can the various lakes where the club organizes weekly sails.
Each sail is organized by a cruise captain. This is to allow club members to sign up to participate in the sail and to organize a social dinner or lunch outing after the sail.
The club also has special organized events throughout the year. The events include, but are not limited to, picnics, Ravinia trips, theater outings, Door County annual four day event and others as time permits when we are not on the water. The club members love to sail, but we also enjoy the camaraderie of our fellow sailors. The club welcomes anyone who has an interest in sailing, is a long time sailor, a novice sailor or anyone that has a boat or not.
At the end of each year the club enjoys a banquet filled with food, door prizes, awards, music and the company of many friends that we have made throughout the sailing season.
We have been a social sailing club since 1975. Please come check us out to see if we are right for you.
Fair Winds,
Joan Burden
